This pair was secured directly to a working jetty and exposed to open water conditions. Constant tidal motion, reflected energy from stone, direct sun exposure, and intermittent contact with shell and rock worked the fabric aggressively over the cycle.
The midpoint aligned with the Strawberry Moon during a rare lunar standstill, when the moon’s low path intensified surface reflection and prolonged exposure across the tidal zone.
Pronounced sun scoring across thigh and knee zones
Reddish tonal shifts from extended UV exposure
Surface abrasion consistent with shell and stone contact
Salt crystallization and early vertical fade formation
During the wash, the lower right leg developed structural wear and was reinforced using hand-stitched hickory stripe patchwork. The repair follows the shape of the damage rather than concealing it, adding strength while preserving the history of the wash.
This intervention is permanent and specific to this pair.
The Strawberry Moon marks the early summer full moon, historically associated with peak seasonal light and the first harvests. During this cycle, an unusually low lunar rise extended reflected exposure across the waterline, intensifying warmth and surface interaction throughout the wash
Edition Notes
This pair belongs to the Terry Tapered First Edition—the initial production run of the fit, made entirely with deadstock US Cone Mills selvedge denim.
A Jetty-Wash Terry Jean shaped by early summer light, open water, and repair earned through use.
This pair records a specific moment in the season—and carries it forward. No two are alike.
