Woolrich has made wool clothing in the Pennsylvania mountains since 1830, and the red-and-black buffalo check is the pattern it’s best known for. This is the heavy wool shirt-jacket version: the kind of shirt hunters, loggers and lobstermen wore through New England winters.
The wool is thick, with a herringbone texture you can see in the black and red blocks. It has two flap chest pockets with button closures, black buttons down the front and at the cuffs, and a curved hem. It’s heavy enough to wear as a light jacket, and soft enough to wear over a sweater or a tee.
Wear it on the dock in November, or open over a white tee with a pair of jeans.
